Our experience with Terrapin Wind and Solar has been nothing but positive and enlightening. Being total novices at this solar power thing we had a large amount to learn. John and Dave came out to our place and did a solar evaluation. We asked a lot of questions. Neither one of these guys ever lost their patience. They gave us straight forwards factual information. They even told us we should get a couple more estimates from their competitors. After having another local solar company out we made up our minds Terrapin was the only way to go. They we're so much more knowledgeable and polite. In June we had Terrapin install a 2.5kw solar and 1kw wind system. We've never ran short of power. In fact with the Maintenance free AGM batteries John recommended there is virtually no maintenance either. My husband always says if he knew it was so easy he'd have been off-grid years ago.
We can't say enough about the courtesy and professionalism displayed by all the people from Terrapin. From the owner John to the laborer during the install. We would recommend these folks to anyone.

We found Terrapin Wind and Solar one day while on a country drive in St. Johns. They were a God send. We stopped in and the sales person John Layne took the time to not only welcome us and offer us a cup of delicious coffee but listen to our rambling about our dreams of living off-grid. He said we can make that a reality. We spent nearly an hour talking with him about the ins and outs of solar power. We hadn't a clue when we'd walked in. By the time we left we had a fairly good idea of where we we're heading. Not once did we ever feel the pressure to buy right then. We informed him we were just in the exploration mode. He wished us a pleasant ride and a wonderful day. About a week later we went into a competitors store a couple of towns over. We felt pushed and once they found we weren't buying right then flat out ignored.
We made the move in Oct. 2008 to Nutriouso, Az. We thought about doing grid-tie but were informed by Navapache COOP it would be $60,000 to go 3/4 of a mile with power poles. It became a no brainer to do off-grid alternative energy. We contacted Terrapin Wind and Solar Co. John Layne even remembered our names even though it had been several months since our visit.
They came out to our property did a solar assessment and told us it would be a few days for a quote. He got back to us in two days. We went back and forth for another week making sure we had exactly what we wanted. Two weeks later we we're having our 4kw system installed. It was done professionally and on time. John Moats the owner came out several times during the install to make sure everything was going good. We'd never dealt with a company that was this conscientious before. It came as a shock.
The other place we had went tried to push a wind generator on us. Terrapin informed us our location would be poor at best for this application. We are so glad we found Terrapin by accident that cool Saturday afternoon. If only other companies treated their customers with this kind of concern.

We were very pleased with the service we received at Terrapin Wind and Solar Co. We bought our entire system there. We got great technical help and when they didn't have the answers they referred us to someone who did. Most places wanted us to buy and fly.
